These cute little guinea pigs will brighten your day
Smile-worthy art is a nice thing to surround yourself with
This stately, but also very cute Guinea Pig, was named after Sir Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, a leading military and figure in 19th century Britain. He ended the Napoleonic wars in 1815 at the battle of Waterloo. You can see a dramatic lego renactment of this battle if you follow this link. Little Wellesely the Guinea pig does a brilliant job of looking as important as his namesake, if not more so.
Here's the story of Wellesley the guinea pig.
Far far away, in a land called Australia, there lived a Guinea Pig named Wellington. He was a loyal friend and was well loved by his person. When his life was over, his person was very sad.
The friends of Wellington’s person decided to commission a portrait of him dressed as Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington…. this was the his namesake. Their plan was to surprise the dearly departed Guinea Pig’s person with it.
When the portrait was complete, I shipped it to Australia. The land of Australia is quite large, and the friends lived in different parts of the country. They traveled from far and wide to come together. At that gathering, they gave the gift to Wellington’s person, who was touched by the thoughtfulness of her friends, and glad to have a happy reminder of her pet.
And now, these prints of “Wellesley” are available for Guinea pig lovers everywhere. It’s fun to create a collection of portraits that go well together. He can be matched with other Guinea pigs or any other members of the managerie in my shop.
