Mr. Hedgehog fancies himself a replica of this portrait of Mozart when he was six years old. It was painted in 1763. The artist painted the surroundings and the clothes, and only then had the boy pose for the finishing touches; his face. Mr. Hedgehog was luckier than that; I paint completely from photographs, so there was no posing necessary.
I’m not the only person having fun anthropomorphizing hedgehogs. There’s an adorable hedgehog named Azuki who lives in Japan. His person made him an instagram superstar by taking the most enchanting pictures of the little fellow on “camping trips”. He’s got top-of-the-line camping equipment, including a tent, a kayak, coleman stove, ice chest. Makes you want to go camping. And makes you want to get to know a hedgehog, ’cause he sure is a cute little fellow.
