My magnets are a nice, large size: 3″ x 4″. The better to see the details of this hysterical historical portrait. It’s made with ultra premium glossy paper and 30 mil magnet backing. I produce each one myself, and I ship them soon after they’re ordered. I send them without tracking via USPS.
This is Arthur Wellesley. He was born in Dublin Ireland in 1769. He was a leading political leader and military figure in Britain in the 19th century. He defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, ending the Napoleonic Wars. Here in my shop, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, makes his appearance as a Guinea pig.
One of my customers wrote to me after receiving his magnet order. He sent me this picture and an amazing tale, which you can read below. True story? Fabrication? We’ll never know. But I can tell you that it is great fun attributing stories to Old World Pet Portraits. It’s an exercise in creative writing that can set off giggles and glee. If you do write a story, I’d love to see it. You don’t have to tell me if it’s true or not. I’ll enjoy it either way.
Once upon a time...
At the age of 2, our Guinea pig George, who is an American short hair, began to express interest in his heritage. As you can imagine, tracking down his ancestors proved to be nearly impossible. It wasn’t until the fateful night of Thursday last which lead me down a trail of clues; immigrants, farmers, war heros, betrayal and love, before discovering the battle of Timothy H. Reed. Alas! A pig, a purpose, and his legendary journey from South America to find greater greens just to find himself. Our little George was so proud the day this poster arrived of his 16th great uncle! In his eye a twinkle sparkled, and out a little voice of gratitude spoke, “eweek!” The End.
