Description
Each of the brooch images originate from portraits I have painted. I hand craft the brooches one at a time using those images, clear domed glass cabochons, and antique bronze bezels. There’s a pin on the bezel so it’s easy to attach the brooch to your favorite dress, cardigan or lapel.
Size: Outside dimensions of the brooch are 1.5 x 2 inches. The image size is 30 x 40 mm, or 1.18 x 1.57inches.
Care: The brooches are made with metal alloy and are lead-free and nickel-free. They are water-resistant, but not water-proof. Clean the brooch with a soft cloth and keep it dry. The brooch is not intended for young children as it may be a choking hazard.
Packaging: Your brooch will arrive ready for gifting. Each one is mounted on cardboard. It is protected with cotton batting, placed into a folded card, and then put into a glassine envelope. The envelope is wrapped in string, which is waxed sealed. It’s as much fun to open the package as it is to wear the brooch! A bubble bag protects it in the mail. It’s exquisitely packaged, and fabulous for gift-giving.
Please note that the brooch images are reproduced from already-painted portraits. They are not digitally created, custom images of pets. I DO create custom oil-on-canvas portraits, which you can read about here.
My art and all of the items in my shop rise from my conviction that animals are as important in the world and worthy of respect as humans are. Most of us get to connect with the animal kingdom in the deepest way through our companion animals. To celebrate and honor that connection, I create historically-classic art that depicts beloved pets with the same high esteem that we represent humans.
In the spirit of the love for animals that I believe we share, I offer this Gaelic blessing:
May your hand always be stretched out in friendship to an animal in need. May the animals that you love bring love back to you. May grace protect you and all of the pets who dwell inside your home. May joy and peace forever surround you and all of the animals you have shared your life with.
About my brooches…. I’ll be discontinuing them at the end of this year. No more brooches starting in 2027. So if you want one, get it this year!
