This portrait was inspired by the great Baroque painter, Anthony van Dyck. This is a self portrait, but many of his portraits were of King Charles I and his art-enthusiastic court. The clothes! Gorgeous!! That’s one of the reasons I love to use his paintings as reference for my Old World Pet Portraits. The other reason is that he was a master artist, and it’s a wonderful challenge to capture the beauty of his compositions and painting style in my own feline art.
